Vivir el confinamiento con autismo

La pandemia de Covid-19 se ha extendido por todo el mundo. El coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 es muy contagioso, por eso una de las medidas más efectivas para combatirlo es el confinamiento: si nos quedamos en casa sin tener contacto con otras personas, conseguiremos reducir el número de contagios.

Sin embargo, quedarse encerrado en casa puede resultar más difícil para las personas que sufren trastornos mentales, como los Trastornos del Espectro Autista (TEA).

Las personas con TEA suelen tener dificultades para comunicarse, expresar sus emociones y relacionarse con otras personas. También suelen repetir conductas de forma compulsiva, por eso les ayuda tener unas rutinas muy marcadas.

Para algunos, encerrarse en casa puede ofrecer una sensación de seguridad. En otros casos, el confinamiento puede empeorar su estado, ya que la falta de libertad de movimiento puede provocar ansiedad y estrés y derivar en conductas agresivas.

Por otro lado, el cierre de escuelas, lugares de trabajo y centros de terapia puede alterar sus rutinas, algo que para ellos representa una estabilidad. Por eso, para estas personas salir a la calle es una cuestión de salud.

Permiso para salir a la calle

El confinamiento implica que las personas solo pueden salir de su casa para ir a trabajar o cubrir necesidades básicas como comprar alimentos, ir a la farmacia, sacar a pasear una mascota o acudir a una cita médica.

Las condiciones para salir a la calle pueden variar en función del país: por ejemplo, en Francia y Bélgica está permitido salir a correr, mientras que en España puede suponer una multa de entre 100 y 600 euros.

En España, la legislación creada para el estado de alarma tiene en cuenta las circunstancias de las personas con TEA y considera que, para ellas, el hecho de salir a la calle es una cuestión de fuerza mayor.

Según el nuevo decreto, las personas con discapacidad cuya situación se vea agravada por el confinamiento tienen permiso para “circular por las vías de uso público, siempre que se respeten las medidas necesarias para evitar el contagio” (distancia de seguridad, llevar mascarilla si se tienen síntomas).
