Alba Pérez es profesora y psicopedagoga, con formación en enfermedades raras y neurodegenerativas. Siempre en constante formación, ha creado un centro de atención en Pontevedra, en Galicia, en el que trabaja con niños que sufren trastorno del espectro autista y la música se ha convertido en su mejor arma.
Una profesora de Pontevedra, en Galicia, ha puesto en marcha un centro de atención en el que trabaja con niños que sufren trastorno del espectro autista (TEA). Este es su trabajo y también su pasión.
Alba Pérez trabaja con niños con autismo pero puntualiza: “trabajamos con ellos y con sus padres, para que todos aprendan a entenderse”. Y es que una de las claves de sus sesiones es que se realizan de manera conjunta. “Los padres tienen que entender que el autismo no es una enfermedad, es una manera diferente de pensar y de ver las cosas, hay que comprender esto para poder avanzar juntos. En nuestro centro los padres están presentes durante todas las sesiones”.
Una de las necesidades que más se repiten en niños con trastornos del espectro autista son las relacionadas con las habilidades comunicativas. “Hay niños que llegan a la consulta sin comunicarse de ninguna manera, algunos incluso apenas lloran, hay que empezar a trabajar poco a poco. La clave es que no son conscientes de que a través de su voz pueden conseguir algo, esto es lo que tratamos de hacerles comprender”.
La entonación, una buena herramienta
No siempre resulta sencillo, pero a sus 34 años, tras varios de experiencia, esta psicopedagoga parece haber dado con un instrumento perfecto para ello, la música, o mejor dicho, la
entonación. “Algunos empiezan imitando la tonalidad y a partir de los sonidos y del canto comienzan a reproducirlos. “Son metodologías científicas, seguimos técnicas muy estudiadas y avaladas por prestigiosos pedagogos”.
El proceso es lento y cada niño es diferente por lo que no se puede generalizar, pero hasta el momento esta manera de aprender a hablar cantando, está dando muy buenos resultados. “Tuvimos a un peque que llegó sin decir nada, empezamos con palabras simples como luz o sal, las repetimos una y otra vez cantando hasta que él empezó a cantarlas. Al poco tiempo eran más palabras. Semanas después frases, y ahora habla. Es muy emocionante”.
