Realmente, si hay una época mala y difícil en el año para las personas con Trastornos del Espectro del Autismo (TEA), esa es el verano.
Normalmente el verano es una época en la que todo se ralentiza, época de vacío, de desprogramar lo que se lleva haciendo durante el año; una época en la que, como todos bien sabemos, se “toma oxígeno”, o se “cargan pilas” para el estudio y el trabajo, por lo que da la impresión de que, verdaderamente, el año termina y empieza en esa época y no en Enero.
En esta reflexión quiero destacar el diferente significado y sentido que tiene el transcurso del verano para las personas neurotípicas y para las personas con TEA, sobre todo para los jóvenes.
Comienzo recordando anteriores artículos míos como el del acoso escolar o el de la soledad, o lo que se llama ghosting o “hacer el vacío”; siempre, en todos los caso las personas TEA, o por lo menos una gran mayoría, pasa demasiado tiempo en casa dándoles vueltas a la cabeza y poniéndose más y más nerviosos por la soledad, por estar en casa sin la rutina de la época de trabajo o estudio.
Pasar demasiado tiempo en casa, sin rutina y sin objetivos concretos, suele generar gran estrés y malestar, hasta el punto de provocar situaciones patológicas que ocasionan muchos disgustos al entorno familiar, especialmente a padres y hermanos que disfrutan de su tiempo de ocio y descanso.
Las opciones de salir de casa suelen ser escasas y los pocos contactos que se suelen tener dicen estar siempre ocupados, pese a que podemos ver en fotos como salen de fiesta o van a la playa con amigos.
Quiero poner de manifiesto una vez más los problemas de soledad y ghosting a la que están abocadas muchas personas con TEA y cómo hace falta una mayor toma de conciencia y comprensión ante estas situaciones en nuestro entorno familiar y social. Y lo cual repercute en un malestar psicológico e incluso físico.
El verano debe ser una época para descansar y disfrutar con un ocio saludable; no debería ser para darle siempre vuelta al sentimiento de soledad y marginación.
Como digo siempre, el ghosting o hacer el vacío, es un modo de maltrato, sutil, pero maltrato, que no se puede denunciar pero que causa estragos en las personas con discapacidad.
Necesitamos un mundo inclusivo que sepa aceptar nuestra condición, que sepa aceptar nuestras diferencias y que no nos deje solos, por nosotros y nuestras familias.
Y necesitamos apoyo para aprender a vivir estas épocas de parada, cuando la rutina se altera, y a que, también nosotros, comprendamos que nuestro entorno necesita su tiempo de reposo y descanso. Es difícil pero necesario de conseguir.
